    Roles and purpose:

You will take the role of Adeline Yen Mah as an adult.

Your audience will be John Paul College students, parents and teachers at the annual Speech Night and Awards Ceremony.

Your purpose is to persuade students to accept and act on a positive idea about their lives.

    Task:

In role as Adeline Yen Mah, write and deliver a motivational speech that persuades JPC students to accept and act on a positive idea about their lives.

Choose a particular idea you want to persuade listeners to accept.

For example, you may want to encourage them to never give up even when times are tough.  Or, you may wish to convince them that they are capable of achieving great things if they put their minds to it.  Maybe you want them to learn to forgive those who are unkind and to be kind themselves.

Use persuasive language and aesthetic features to motivate your listeners and convince them to do their very best.

In role as Adeline, you may refer to your experiences as a child, a student and as a successful author.  Yet the focus should be on your message to JPC students, not on your past.
